South Beach Horse Exercise Area heritage listed

As part of our quest for better planning at South Beach, we also worked to get the horse heritage at South Beach recognised in 2007 so that the rights of horse trainers to exercise their horses on the beach and use the walking tracks was not lost with the new housing estate coming.

I worked with the Fremantle people advocating for the horse heritage to be recognised at the State level.  In 2007 we succeeded in having the area from South Beach south of Ocean Road and including the  whole of CY O’Connor reserve included in the ‘South Beach Horse Exercise Area’ .  This area is now included in the State’s register of heritage places.  Click for listing:
